Escape the rat-race and take your family hiking

There is one thing that is clear about the rat race: there seems to be no end to it. You probably are in a better position than you were a couple of years ago. You probably have a better salary. However, your bills went up as well because, let´s face it, things are not getting cheaper.  When you thought your raise would take you out of debt, you realize you will need it to compensate for the interests generated from a burnt-out loan.  It goes on and on and there is hardly a way to see the end of it.

When was the last time you took your family to the beach or on a vacation? Do you ask yourself, “What am I making all this money for?” Typically the answer to this is “to survive”.  But you know it was not always like this.  So, the first step into escaping the rat race is to realize you are in one.

Now, the plan here is to take your family on a hike. The 9-to-5 is not going to help you with this.  First thing to do is to make some changes. In a perfect world, you would just present your resignation and go follow your dreams. But we all know that dreams are not that cheap.  So, how about starting to invest a certain percent of your extra time in family? There are diverse ways of making an extra income on the internet.  You can even find ideas of things you could do to generate a little more money.

Invest a percent of your time on building a slush fund. Invest another percent on a new project.  Create a strict savings plan for the future.  Make better plans for your purchases.  Have you noticed how many of the things you own, actually own you? We live in a society locked in consumerism.  Don´t fall for that and make smart investments.

Taking a break from the grind from time to time to take your family hiking and camping is a great way to invest your money and time.  Try it.  You will not be sorry.
